Set up your cars and parts

This is one-time setup, and it's the first two steps of the in-app checklist: "Add your first car" and "Add the components to track".

1. Add your cars

Go to Cars and add each chassis (CAR 1, CAR 2…). Each car (in the checklist's words) "is a chassis you bolt parts onto" — parts accrue mileage through the car they're mounted on.

2. Define part categories

Categories define the type of part and its life limits. Create them from Settings → Components or directly with "Add part" in Inventory. For each category you set:

• EOL (km) — the kilometres at which the part must be retired or rebuilt.
• Warn % and Critical % — when the part's status turns amber and red. If you don't set them, ICRX uses 75% and 90%.

Since multi-unit lifing landed, a category can also limit life by engine hours and by number of events — whichever limit is hit first drives the alert. See the exact rules.

3. Register your parts

Each part has:

• A serial number (unique across your inventory).
• Its category, and the car and position where it's mounted.
• Initial km — km the part already had when you registered it (for parts migrated with previous use). New part: leave it at 0.
• Target use % (optional) — if you retire parts before their theoretical EOL (e.g. at 80%), set it here; the wear bar and forecasts adjust to that target.
• Expiry date (optional) — for parts with a calendar life (cranks, belts, seals).
