Mechanics — the job board

Mechanics (sidebar) is the chief mechanic's board: a General tab for org-wide tasks plus one tab per car in the current project, each with its open-jobs count.

Creating jobs​

The quick-add row at the top: type a title, optionally pick a category, a folder ("Pre-FP1"…) and a priority (Low / Normal / High / Critical), then "Add" (or press Enter). New jobs are auto-tagged with the active event, the current project, and the tab's car. Category and folder stick between adds so you can pour a list in.

Creating and editing jobs needs the "Manage mechanic jobs" permission — without it the board is read-only.

Working the board​

Jobs group by status: Open, In progress, Blocked, and a collapsed Done section (how many days Done stays visible is an org setting). If you use folders, jobs group by folder first, with the same status sections inside each folder. Filters: "Mine only", category, and "This event".

Per job: change status inline (Done stamps the completion time), edit the title in place, and expand for priority, category, folder, assignee, due date, ETA and description. Expanded jobs also offer "Propose part swap" and "Log measurement" (guide).

Templates​

Recurring lists (pit-stop checklist, pre-event prep) live as job templates:

  • Author them in Settings → Mechanics → "Mechanics templates": a named template with items, each with its own category, priority and ETA.
  • On the board, "Apply template" inserts every item as an open job in the current tab, optionally assigning them all to one person.

Printing​

"Print" downloads the currently visible list as a PDF checklist — filters and the active tab apply, so "CAR 4, Pre-FP1 folder" prints exactly that.

Module settings​

Settings → Mechanics holds the defaults: new-job priority and category, days Done stays visible, and the part-swap approver (see the swaps guide — until one is picked, proposals wait forever).
