Organization, projects, seasons and championships

Everything in ICRX hangs off four levels. Getting them right on day one makes the rest of the app fall into place.

The hierarchy​

  • Organization — your team. Users can belong to several orgs and switch with the context pill (top-left: org · project · season). Organizations are provisioned by ICRX; you join by invitation.
  • Project — a chassis/program: "F4", "F3 Regional", "GT3 #7". A project has a car type (GT / Formula / TCR / Prototype) and owns its cars, parts and templates. Manage them in Settings → Events → Projects; the last project can't be deleted.
  • Season — a period within a project ("2026"). Each project has exactly one default season. Create/close/reopen in Settings → Events → Seasons.
  • Championship — a series ("FREC", "F4 Spain"): which tracks its events may use, which projects race in it, and the default tyre-set limits per car per event. Manage in Settings → Events → Championships.

An event then lives inside a championship + season, and its sessions carry the laps.

Switching context​

The context pill opens one panel with three choices: organization (multi-org users only), project, and season. Your selection is remembered per device. The event switcher next to it anchors the "active event" that pages like Mechanics and the Workbook default to.

Closing a season​

Closing a season (Settings → Events → Seasons → "Close season", the padlock icon on the season row) freezes all its data at the database level — events, sessions, laps, builds. Browsing and exports keep working; edits are rejected with a "season is closed" message until you "Reopen season" it. Use it the day the season ends: the record becomes tamper-proof for scrutineering and resale.

Starting from nothing​

A brand-new org shows the welcome screen with two paths:

  • "Explore with example data" — loads a demo project (cars, parts, a completed event with laps) so you can click around. A banner reminds you it's fake; "Remove example data" deletes it cleanly.
  • "Start from scratch" — name your first project, pick a car type, go.

The Dashboard's "Get started" checklist then walks the six steps (car → components → championship → track → event → laps) and ticks itself as your data appears. The user menu offers a 60-second guided tour any time.
