Part swaps and measurements
Swapping a part on a car is an inventory-changing act, so ICRX runs it as a two-person flow: anyone with job rights can propose, only the org's designated approver can apply. Measurements, being read-only observations, skip approval entirely.
Proposing a swap
On the Mechanics board, expand the job → "Propose part swap":
- From (remove) — a part currently mounted on the job's car.
- To (mount) — a spare of the same category. You can leave one side empty (mount fresh, or remove without replacement), but not both.
- "Snapshot km of the outgoing part" pre-fills from the from-part's live mileage.
Parts inside an assembly are excluded — assemblies swap as whole units from the session build (Assemblies). A part can only have one pending proposal at a time.
The proposal lands as pending and touches nothing yet.
Approving
The part-swap approver is chosen in Settings → Mechanics ("Part-swap approver"). Until someone is picked, proposals stay pending forever — set it on day one.
The approver sees a count chip in the top bar; tapping it lands on the board, where each affected job shows the proposal with "Apply" and "Reject" (with an optional reason). Apply updates Inventory atomically: the removed part goes to spare, the mounted one goes onto the car, mileage snapshots recorded. The proposer can't approve their own swap unless they are also the approver — pick accordingly.
Logging a measurement
Expand a job → "Log measurement" → pick the mounted part you measured. The form comes from the category's measurement schema (defined in Settings → Inventory → "Your components"). No approval involved; the reading lands in the part's measurements tab immediately.
